Jahana Hayes: Wrong for Connecticut

People from CT5 voice their objections to the extreme
Far Left socialist in a 30-second TV ad for David X. Sullivan

Thanks to the generosity of donors right here in the 5th District, the David X. Sullivan for Congress campaign premiered a TV ad last night titled Jahana Hayes: Wrong for Connecticut.

The TV ad features residents of the 5th District voicing the frustration and dissatisfaction of thousands of others who have been ignored by the celebrity-seeking socialist who merely rubberstamps costly Nancy Pelosi/AOC initiatives and does nothing for the families of the 5th District.

Here is a link to the TV ad.

A prime example of Hayes’ dismissive attitude toward families in the 5th District is the current months-long stalemate over another stimulus package. Hayes has done nothing to advance the effort while countless families in CT5 and Connecticut suffer financial harm from the economic recession caused by the lingering pandemic.

In fact, here is what David X. Sullivan said about Hayes’ ambivalence toward families in CT5 five months ago. Hayes has sat on her hands ever since. And done nothing. Hayes’ partisan loyalty to Pelosi blinds her to needs of families in CT5 and Connecticut who continue to suffer and look for help.

“Like a dutiful rubber stamp, Jahana Hayes is supporting Nancy Pelosi’s wildly partisan and wasteful $3 trillion COVID-19 spending bill,” said David X. Sullivan, a former Federal prosecutor and the Republican candidate for Congress in the 5th District.

“This bill is nothing more than a waste of precious time. It excluded Republican input and does not focus on the twin essentials of health care and alleviating the economic impact of the pandemic for everyday working Americans. Instead, it funds a raft of partisan activities and is clearly ‘dead on arrival’ in the Senate, as it should be,” he continued.

“Our nation has lost an estimated 36 million jobs, our unemployment rate is nearly 15 percent, and women and minorities are among those taking the hardest economic hit in this pandemic,” added Sullivan. “But instead of focusing on their needs, and the needs of working families in the 5th District, Jahana Hayes is in lockstep with Nancy Pelosi in fabricating a bill that will do nothing but prolong the painful status quo.”

Congress has already passed four COVID-19 spending bills totally nearly $3 trillion. Any additional spending, Sullivan said, should be focused on two initiatives only:

Health Care — Supplies, equipment, medication, and facilities to fight the virus and provide care for the victims; training and PPE for First Responders; and urgent research for cures and vaccines for the COVID-19 virus.

Back to Work — Compensation or aid for workers and businesses directly impacted by the loss of wages and revenues due to business closures, and the emergency ‘social distancing’ protocols intended to protect Americans.

“There is plenty of time to verify state and local costs related to the pandemic,” Sullivan said, “and other possible legitimate needs, as well. But there should be no money for partisan special interests.

Democrat Opposition

Fourteen Democrats broke ranks to vote against the massive spending bill, calling the bill “gamesmanship,” “Washington politics at its worst,” and “a disservice to the American people.”

“I am deeply troubled by numerous provisions in this bill that could see large amounts of taxpayer dollars allocated to helping those who are not hurting at all,” said Cindy Axne (D-IA) said.

“Congress has an obligation to be responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars,” said Joe Cunningham (D-SC).

A Pennsylvania Democrat said lawmakers needed to work harder to find “common ground” when crafting legislation to help Americans during the pandemic. “This bill is not focused, it was rushed to a vote too fast, and it doesn’t help us accomplish that core mission,” said Conor Lamb, (D-PA).

“I came to Washington to get things done, and this legislation only serves to push real relief further down the road,” said Abby FInkenauer (D-IA).

“Hayes’ abdication of her vote to Nancy Pelosi leave the people of the 5th District voiceless,” said David X. Sullivan. “Thousands of conscientious workers across our District take substantial risk every day in this pandemic to assure our safety and welfare. But not Jahana Hayes. She serves as a rubber stamp for Nancy Pelosi.
