The largest remaining group of uncommitted delegates boosts
Sullivan’s support to more than 2/3rds of total delegates
The David X. Sullivan for Congress campaign today announced the endorsement of the 14-member Waterbury RTC Convention Delegation. Previously, Waterbury represented the largest group of uncommitted delegates remaining in CT5.
With the Waterbury commitment, Sullivan now holds the support of more than two-thirds of all the delegates to the Republican 5th district nominating convention.
“I am exceedingly pleased to have earned the support of the Waterbury RTC delegation,” said Sullivan, a former Federal prosecutor and veteran teacher at the college level. “Waterbury is one of the large cities that is key to winning this election in November, and it is encouraging to know that I will be able to work side by side with the people that know the city best.”
“David was out there early and while making his rounds throughout the district made sure to regularly stop into the Brass City to check in with our members and answer any questions that they may have had,” said Jeffery Santopietro, the Waterbury Republican Town Committee Chairman.
“His presence in Waterbury, his strong platform and his ability to raise the needed funds to take on the incumbent were the reasons that we felt David was the best candidate in the race,” Santopietro added.
The Waterbury delegation includes, among others: State Rep. Anthony D’Amelio (R-71), CT-GOP State Central Member William Kolo (15 SD), Former WRTC Chairman and current Waterbury Board of Education Commissioner Jason Van Stone, Waterbury Aldermanic Minority Leader Roger Sherman, WRTC Vice Chairman and former CT-GOP State Central Member Joseph Bannon, and Waterbury Board of Education Commissioner Thomas Van Stone Sr.
